What We Take For Granted

The UPS man brought us a present the other day. It's always more fun to order stuff online, then you get a present to open! Anyways, we got this awesome water filter. Tyler decided to try it out here in Farmington first since Urgent Care is just 4 minutes away. Gulu, Uganda may not be the best place in the world to test this thing out.

He ventured out to the nasty, stagnant swamp deemed as a "wetland preserve" behind our house. There is actually a recliner chair resting in the lovely green water. I'm not too sure what happened there, but I'm getting off track... So Tyler collected some mucky slime water in a bucket, pumped it through the filter, used the UV light to kill the viruses, and drank up the crystal clear water.

Truly, he was a little leery

I can't wait to see the people's faces when a simple water purification system provides clean water for an entire village. Even more importantly, I'm thrilled to bring the Living Water to a desperate, thirsty people.

Jesus answered and said unto her, Whosoever drinketh of this water shall thirst again: But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.
John 4:13-14

The girls in this video are collecting water for their family from a contaminated water hole in Uganda.

The pump we just got has a lifetime warranty on it, but the filter will sustain our family for a few years. We've looked into larger water filters, and just by collecting the rainwater and filtering it, we can easily sustain an entire community of people with one system. There is no reason to rely on a contaminated water hole when it rains all the time! Also, if it is gravity fed, we won't need to pump it. Pretty exciting!
