Thank you for praying! Here's an update on the three things we've been praying about:
WISDOM: Tyler is doing well teaching the people here much about the Bible and all the life application it brings. Marriage, money, business, etc. He's teaching three Bible Studies a week, and spending much of his days discipling a few faithful men while working alongside them. He's really loving it. Unfortunately, there was no repentance for the dishonesty from one of the workers, and he had to fire the one who was causing the turmoil around here. I'm thankful that God allowed the truth to be exposed so Tyler could take care of the situation in a right way.
PROTECTION: It's been over a week now since we've seen any snakes. THANK YOU JESUS! I know LOTS of people were praying about this. Every night for the past week, Tyler and Zane have poured diesel down the suspected snake hole, and blew the thing up. It truly was you-tube-worthy, but we didn't go that far. I also have done A TON of research on cobras and the other snakes around here. As horrible as it sounds to say we have a cobra nest in our front yard, it's not quite as deadly as I thought. We're not going through with getting the anti venom. I was in touch with a well respected doctor here in Uganda, and he said the anti venom can be more deadly than a snake bite if you don't know what you're doing. We're fine just to get to the hospital even though it is two hours away. We have perfect peace about the situation. It's no longer viewed as such a crisis in my mind!
FAVOR: Zane went to court yesterday with three children, Ethan, Enoch and Elyssa. This is his second try at seeing the judge for these same children. He drove about 2 hours on Wednesday, slept in Gulu, and drove the remaining 2 hours Thursday. This two hour drive, mind you, is not easy. You really have to hold on tight and dodge every pit in the road - swerving and bumping all the way there. Anyway, he finally got to court and they didn't have his files. He left the kids with the lawyer (I think), and drove all the way back to Gulu. He got the files, and FLEW back to the judge in order not to get pushed back another month. He made it! Their case was heard, and now have to wait until March 18th for the rulings to be read. The lawyer said it seems quite favorable. On the way home, (4 hours I think?) Zane's tire went flat in the middle of no where Northern Uganda. As Zane was changing the tire, with the three kids in the car, his battery went dead. Two guys eventually came to help push the car to get it started again. Nothing is easy and convenient here. Nothing. But, thank God for the good report at court. Everyone is back home safe and sound now.
The last five of Zane and Summer's children will be even more difficult, so please pray about that. They cannot adopt them here in Uganda because they haven't lived with them for three full years. They are trying to get legal guardianship and deal with the adoptions once they are all in America.
That's it in a nutshell. Days are long and hot and packed full here. There is never a dull moment. I keep thinking... why doesn't everyone want to move to Uganda? It's so sweet to raise children in this simple, dirt-playing, farm-living lifestyle. The Ugandan people are so welcoming and respectful. Am I nuts or is it just God's grace that makes it so enjoyable? Yes, I know I was whining about the rotten day a few posts back... those are bound to come... but really, it's awesome here. If I'm nuts, please don't try to convince me otherwise.
We have been praying. Wow! That picture is BEAUTIFUL! Love, Linda
