Margaret

We live about 7 minutes or so from the center of town. Our Sunday Services are held right there in town where lots of people live. We have Bible Studies throughout the week in surrounding villages where some church members live. This is to encourage believers throughout the week, and also to meet with those people who are not willing or able to walk an hour to get to the church.

My friend Margaret has a new life with Jesus. She came to the church six months ago and decided she needed to be forgiven and live for Jesus. She came right up to either Tyler or Julius, I can't remember, and asked him to pray for her. She is a strong little lady with three small children.

Although she lives in the town's center, she often makes the trek to our home on Fridays for fellowship. This past Friday, she was preparing to come, and she got into an argument with her husband. We've never met her husband. She always comes to church alone or with the children. He was telling her that he did not want her traveling that far because then she gets home too late. After "a bit of quarreling," as she explained this to me yesterday, she decided to stay home and have her own home Bible study.

She got her Bible and had her kids all sit in a circle outside with her to read. She said she put the Bible on the ground in front of her, and a small black snake came right into the middle of their gathering and coiled itself on top of the Bible. They all screamed and ran. Snakes here are no joke. They all are dangerously poisonous.

After she was through telling me this story, I repeated it to Tyler, and we gathered some people to pray with us over her. Snakes don't just coil themselves up on top of Bibles. This is a spiritual response to her desire to live for Jesus.

In life there are two teams, and no on-lookers.

Jesus said,
"He that is not with me is against me..."
Matthew 12:30

Margaret has chosen to follow Christ. He husband has not. We pray for him, that their house may not be divided, and he can enjoy life with Jesus too. Satan is not thrilled that she has chosen Christ. He brings all kinds of tactics to our lives to tempt us not to follow Jesus. This terrifying time for Margaret drove her to prayer and has encouraged the rest of us to pray for her too.
