December 5th. The big day. My brown eyed, dimple-cheeked niece's 4th birthday, and the day God chose for us to board the big ole' jet that flies over the ocean to carry us to our new home. As the day draws nearer, time gets more precious. It's amazing how much time we waste on things that don't matter. People are worth investing in... no matter how busy life has become in these past few weeks. Priorities have become real clear.
I'd love to share details about what God has planned for us when we get to Uganda. At this point (Lord willing of course), the plan is for Zane to take the three children who were just adopted to Oregon. He will leave in January, stay for a month with his wife, and come back to Uganda until he can get all of his kiddos to America. When Zane leaves in January, Brianna - the gem of a girl who has been loving on these children for quite some time - will be moving back to the States. This means we will have about three weeks to learn all we can from Bri and Zane to get the gist of what it looks like to serve 8 of Zane's children and 5 of ours while living in a brand new culture and really really hot climate. Seems nuts, huh? I'm SO excited to see the hand of God carry us through this!! There is no doubt in my mind there will be crazy days where I will sit down - or maybe collapse - at the end of the day and KNOW God's grace was sufficient for the day. He has led us this far. I don't doubt His goodness to carry us through.
Prayers we'd love for you to pray:
* Peace for our children as well as Zane and Summer's. They're all going through MUCH change.
* Health and strength for Summer.
* Our trip. We'll be on a 1.5-hr, a 10-hr, and a 7-hr flight, followed by a 9 hr. car ride. Please pray specifically for our 11 month old Elisabeth ...and for understanding passengers!
* Our closest friends and family as they release us to do the will of God.
Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.

ReplyDeleteBrother, this is so exciting to read. To see the faith that the Lord has placed within you is a gift to the entire church. I'm am sure that all the changes are consumate with your prayers to live on the edge with Jesus holding you in the boat. As you guys persevere in this path, I am sure that the question in Luke 18:8 will be a resounding "YES!".
